Our Sacred Journey
Miges Odanes was founded on the belief that cultural preservation is a living practice. We are dedicated to safeguarding the ancient wisdom of Aboriginal communities through multigenerational healing spaces. We promote pilgrimage to ancestral homelands as a mens of reclaiming and repairing place-based identities of the tribal peoples of Earth. Our work is a testament to the enduring strength of ancestral systems and the sacred responsibility we hold to protect them for future generations.
executive summary: miges is the shell used by creator to breathe life in, and as such this central village fire has been lit in the heart of the hood to call lost children home to the truth in their hearts, home to their inner being so the great spirit may breathe life in to them, again. we refer to this process as movement ignighting generational earth-based spirituality (MIGES); the way life moves up from the earth, to steward and care for all living beings, including the land as a living being, to return to the earth when our spirit returns home. when we live in a colonized state, having the land in a colonized state, and as an extension of the land our very selves. we experience the root of all sickness, a spiritual sickness and amnesia; a forgetting so profound that we turn away from our very nature, turn away from living fully in order to exist in compartmentalized pieces. constructing organizations and cultural institutions at this time is our believed remedy to this programmed disconnection and state of sickness and amnesia. these structures are aimed at multigenerational healing and rehabilitation, and encapsulate systems which can be passed down to the next seven generations to come.

we acknowledge the people who come from villages, as having place based identities, and when they were removed from their place of ancestral inheritance, irreparable harm was caused to their ideas about themselves and the world, and the ability to see themselves as a part of nature, with the innate knowledge of how to heal themselves in connection with the land they are from. this organization exists to provide a village framework to those within city centers still looking for home, searching for the truth within themselves, and the knees looking to reclaim their ancestral identity.
